CNC punching of metal sheet with an AMADA machine for industrial components

CNC punching: production efficiency for large formats

CNC punching: production efficiency for large formats

CNC punching

CNC punching is an essential technology for the industrial production of sheet metal components that require repetitive holes, slots and notches.

Thanks to the mechanical action of the punch, the process offers high productivity, lower costs compared to other cutting technologies and precision ideal for producing medium-to-large batches.

It is the most efficient solution for electrical cabinets, paneling, grilles, housings and all those components that require geometric uniformity and consistent repeatability.

Our production department is equipped to process a wide range of metal materials, from thick structural steels to lightweight aluminum alloys. Thanks to the diversification of our in-house departments and the availability of multiple technologies (fiber laser cutting, waterjet, punching, CNC bending), we can choose the most suitable process for each material, preserving its mechanical properties and ensuring maximum dimensional accuracy.

AMADA machine fleet: technical capabilities and performance

The department is equipped with No. 2 AMADA punching machines, which make it possible to handle processing on different geometries and formats:

  • AMADA AE2610 (20 ton)

  • AMADA COMA (50 ton)

This configuration makes it possible to cover different production needs while maintaining operational continuity, flexibility, and precision.

Operating capabilities

  • Processing of large sheets up to 4000 mm

  • Production of components ready for the subsequent operations

  • High repeatability on serial batches

The servo-electric system ensures a fast cycle, greater process stability, and a competitive machine hourly cost, with clear advantages in managing industrial orders.

Auto-Index Turret and Advanced Operations

The multi-station turret configuration offers high flexibility and makes it possible to perform many more operations than simple drilling.

Auto-Index Function

The turret features an automatic rotating station that positions the tool at the required angle, eliminating the need to reposition the sheet.

Advantages:

  • Reduced cycle times

  • Greater precision on complex geometries

  • Reduced scrap

Integrated Forming Operations

In addition to traditional punching, the department can produce:

  • Deep drawing

  • Stiffening ribs

  • Holes and slots

  • Notches

  • Localized deformations

Thus reducing the need for additional machining on machine tools.

Machinable materials and thicknesses

CNC punching is particularly effective on:

  • Iron and stainless steel up to 6–8 mm

  • Aluminum up to 8–10 mm

These capabilities make it possible to cover a wide range of applications in the fabrication of light metalwork and industrial components.
